Trigger Point Pain

  • The high frequency acoustic shock waves or energy pulses target the injured tissue that is choking the nerves and blood vessels. Because of the mechanical forces on the injured tissues and scar. The shock wave creates a "jump start" to the healing process in the injury area.

  • As you can see from the infographic when you break up the scar tissue there is more flow in the blood vessels and less tension on nerves. Because of this decrease in scar tissue in the area of injury. We can get the body back to its natural healing process and improve the health of the area of injury with less pain.

 Symptoms

Pain is felt with pressure to hyper-irritable muscle which has a knot or tender point. Which then gives rise to traveling pain and tenderness to other joints, ligaments, tendons and muscles. This process is a phenomena where the pain fibers of proprioception can be confused with were pain is originating & can lead to misdiagnosis among many clinicians.

Treatment

Proper diagnosis and exam of trigger points are critical in getting relief from trigger point pain.
ExtraCorporeal Shock Wave treatment is the perfect tool for decreasing trigger point pain & tenderness. Shock Wave Therapy will use acoustic pressure waves that will penetrate trigger points which will cause increased blood flow to injured area. The shock waves combined with therapy tape will help significantly alleviate traveling pain & discomfort.

Research About Trigger Point with Shock Wave.....

"....we found ESWT to be more effective than TPI ( trigger point injections ) for pain relief....Compared to TPI, ESWT showed superior results for pain relief. Thus, we consider ESWT as an effective treatment for myofascial pain syndrome.... "
