Knee & Lower Leg

Utah Shock Wave Therapy Protocol uses innovative acoustic wave energy to treat the Knee & Lower Leg. The pressure waves create increased  blood flow and stimulate more blood vessels to help with healing. The outcome? Decrease in muscle pain & aches, activate connective tissue in joints for better motion and improve blood flow.

"75% of patients became free of symptoms following RPW ( Shock Wave) treatment.....Radial ESWT is a safe and promising treatment for adolescent athletes with recalcitrant Osgood-Schlatter disease."
Sportverletz Sportschaden. 2012 Dec;26(4):218-22. doi: 10.1055/s-0032-1325478. Epub 2012 Oct 9.

"ESWT seems to be a safe and promising treatment for patellar tendinopathy with a positive effect on pain and function.."

Shin Splints

Pain can be on the inside of your leg bone or on the outside. Pain can also radiate down into the feet or upper ankles.  Major cause of shin splints is running or walking down hill or problems with flat arches in the feet.  Putting pressure along the sides of the tibia  will cause pain and discomfort. Care is very important as shin splints can lead to anterior compartment syndrome.
"At 15 months from baseline, 40 of the 47 subjects in the treatment group had been able to return to their preferred sport at their preinjury level, as had 22 of the 47 control subjects......

Pes Anserin / Biceps Femoris or Hamstring Tendinitis

Pain is present on the inside of the knee or just below the knee. Common complaints stem from sitting for long periods of time, such as in an office situation or when there is chronic long term tightness in the hamstring and leg muscles. There also can be swelling, redness and hot to touch as the bursa for tendons may be inflamed.
"...the ESWT group...were significantly lower (pain) than in the sham( placebo) group immediately after intervention......Moreover, the PPI in both groups had significantly decreased over time, although in ESWT group this decrement was significantly more than sham ESWT group". Adv Biomed Res. 2017 Jun 6;6:70. doi: 10.4103/2277-9175
