What are Bunions?Bunions are composed of three materials in the body. The first is the most common & that is Calcium. So just think of kidney stones but in your feet. But these calcium stones form layers like an onion not like little pebbles. Bunions are layers of calcium some stronger than other layers. As these layers build up over time they will effect the big toe and the joint. Usually when the joint is effected there is a turning or shifting of your big toe called hallux valgus aka. "bending toe" or " hammer toes". We also can find that these calcium layers can also have scar tissue or actual bone intermixed into these layers of calcium of the bunion. Pressure waves will target the layers of calcium & help restore normal toe angles that help with reduction in pain & discomfort.

Success With Care....Therapy for bunions can really work and be successful. These are the two factors that make bunions care so successful for acoustic wave care. The first is the composition of the bunion. If the majority of the bunion is made of calcium and minor tissue swelling, then it is a positive indication that wave care is good non-surgical option for care. The second is the big toe joint itself. If the swelling is due to the tissues being strained / sprained then shock wave can relieve pain.
The next step would be to consult with Dr. Gardner about your specific bunions &/or hammer toes. To see if care is a good alternative to surgical bunion removal. |
